Sean Drury has worked for Beefeater for over 12 years. We met up with him recently to find out what it's really like behind the scenes at Beefeater.

How long have you been working for Beefeater?

I started at Beefeater straight from college, so it's coming up to 13 years now. I've pretty much worked from the bottom up and have well and truly learnt on the job.

Out of all the restaurant chains, what attracted you to Beefeater?

Before I worked here, I visited quite regularly, and it always struck me how friendly and open the staff were. Beefeater restaurants have such a great energy about them and I thought it would be a fun place to work. I'm also a huge fan of steak so that helped too!

What is it that makes Beefeater experts in chargrilling?

Well, Beefeater was the original chargrill restaurant and their years of experience definitely shows! We've really perfected our chargrilling techniques over the years and our training program for chefs is second to none.

What's your personal favourite on Beefeater's current menu? And why?

It's got to be the Rack of Lamb. Firstly it's a fantastic cut of meat - really tender and succulent. But it's also presented really well, and looks amazing on the plate. Mouth-watering!

Can you tell us about the Steakmaster programme that has recently launched in Beefeater?

This is a new training program that we're all really excited about. Team members are trained via the Steakmaster program, ensuring that we really are the experts on Steak! We're encouraging all customers to ask us about how best to have their steak cooked, what type of steak they should choose, what accompaniments work best with which steaks, and basically any other steak-related question they may have.

What sets Beefeater apart from the competition?

I think firstly, the emphasis on fresh, expertly cooked food. Also, despite being famous for Steaks, there's a huge choice on offer (the Pesto Spiral Pasta is another favourite of mine).
Lastly, lots of our restaurants have open kitchens, which I think really adds to the atmosphere and makes a visit to Beefeater that little bit more unique.

Has anyone famous ever dined in your restaurant?

Yes, I've cooked for Daniel Radcliffe, Monty Panesar, Michael Vaughan and even Pavarotti!
