Why we love Cumbernauld

Originating from the Gaelic for ‘the meeting of the waters’, Cumbernauld offers inspiring days out in North Lanarkshire for all interests. From Roman roots to agricultural and industrial change, Cumbernauld Museum is a great place to unravel fascinating history. Breathtaking landscapes and nature are some of Scotland’s biggest lures – found in abundance here. Drive less than 10 minutes from here to explore treetop walkways, befriend curious zoo animals and follow rewarding trails at Palacerigg Country Park. Cumbernauld House Park is a 25-minute walk away. Where you can ramble through grasslands and pass ancient trees with stretching views as far as Ochil Hills and Campsie Fells. For snowdrops in February, or bluebells in May, woodland beauty awaits through Cumbernauld Glen – only six minutes by car. Any animal lovers? Less than a 10-minute drive, see over 70 types of birds and flying displays at Scotland’s largest birds of prey centre. Or culture vultures? Witness an intimate performing art production at Cumbernauld Theatre at Lanternhouse. Adventurers will love Cumbernauld Outdoor Activity Centre with its 4x4 driving, archery, paintballing and more. However you picture your perfect day trip in Scotland, Cumbernauld has it covered.
