Our team

We’re lucky to have such a friendly and dedicated team here at the Woodlands Beefeater. Our team have worked together for years and most are local to Gravesend, if you have any questions about places to visit or things to see nearby they’ll be happy to help. Our team care about making the Woodlands Beefeater a place everyone can relax and unwind in.

We care about being a positive force in the community, so we make regular donations and hold fundraising events for the ellenor hospice, a local charity. We also hold quiz nights every month to raise money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Our location

The building we’re in was originally built in 1896 as a private residence, it became a hotel in the late 1930s and then became the brilliant restaurant it is today! We’ve been at the heart of the community in Gravesend for almost a century.

We have everything you need for the perfect meal out, whether you’re relaxing alone, planning a family meal or fancy a romantic night away from your sofa at home.

Our restaurant has a spacious dining area with booths, a relaxed bar area and a pub garden with plenty of benches. We also have a large function room for parties and events – just get in touch with us in advance to book it and let us handle the rest!

Make sure to take a look at our offers page for all our latest deals and promotions.

Why we love Gravesend

Gravesend is an iconic town alongside the Thames with easy connections to London, Ashford International and Europe. The Woodlands Beefeater is close to some of the best spots in town and lots of fun things to do nearby.

For a start, our namesake, Woodlands Park, is right next door. A big open space full of play areas and spaces for kids! There’s no better place to tire the kids out before lunch. The same goes for the banks of the Thames nearby, there are some brilliant views of the river from Gravesend.

Elsewhere in town, make sure to visit the Chantry Heritage Centre, one of the oldest buildings in the borough and a fascinating site for learning about the history of Gravesham. If you’re on a trip full of activities, stop by the Gravesend Cyclopark for Kent’s most modern multi-sport activity venue. Finally, Gravesend is famous for being the resting place of Pocahontas, and the statue dedicated to her near the Thames is well worth a visit.

Frequently asked questions

Our steaks are always popular! Our 8oz fillet steaks are one of our tastiest cuts and, like all our steaks, they’re aged for a minimum of 30 days, grilled to perfection, packed with flavour and served with chunky triple cooked chips, crispy flat mushroom, juicy grilled tomatoes and peppercorn sauce.

Our kitchen manager recommends having our steaks served rare to medium for the most flavour. But if that’s not your thing don’t worry, we’ll always serve your steak exactly how you want it.

You can’t beat our Sunday lunches here at the Woodlands Beefeater. With our Sunday roasts you can choose from our specialty roast sirloin of beef, rump of lamb, half-roast chicken or butternut squash & ale pie, served with all the trimmings and our signature red wine gravy. You also get unlimited roast potatoes and other delicious extras.

It’s got to be the Premier Inn Breakfast, which we serve at the Woodlands Beefeater. An unlimited selection of the best of an English breakfast. That’s bacon, eggs cooked just how you like them, hash browns, black pudding, toast and plenty more with free tea and coffee.

We’re totally family friendly and we can make your next meal out hassle-free. Ours kids’ menu is full of dishes your children will love, our team are great with kids and we have Woodlands Park next door for kids to burn off some energy before dinner. Best of all, up to two kids can eat breakfast for free when an adult orders a Premier Inn Breakfast!

From mid-week meals to special occasions, we welcome all kinds of group bookings at the Woodlands Beefeater. You can book tables for up to 16 people online through our website, or call us on 01474 558774 to find out more about Beefeater group bookings in Gravesend. If you’re booking for a group larger than 16, we can still host you – just give us a call or select ‘other’ as the number of guests you want to book for on our booking page to let us know.

Yes, we have an enclosed pub garden and a terrace with benches and parasols.

If we have space, we’ll always try and find a table for you. But we recommend booking ahead, especially at the weekend when we’re at our busiest.
