Why we love Worksop

We love Worksop for several reasons. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Dukeries’, our character-filled market town and its surrounding areas are full of mystic, beauty and captivating history. Enjoy a quintessential British story of grand manor houses with stretching gardens and greenery, at Ducal estates like Welbeck Abbey, Worksop Manor and Thoresby Hall. One of our most popular – yet unusual – attractions, is a 1920’s museum in the heart of Worksop, affectionately known as Mr Straw’s House. A modest semi-detached house that’s a seven-minute drive away from us, travel back in time with a time warp collection that tells the narrative of life in the Midlands during the early 20th Century. Keen for a soothing walk through nature after your meal here? Well, you’re in for a treat at Clumber Park – just over a 10-minute drive away. Year-round colour lights up its scenic parkland, which accommodates over 120 different species of tree – found towering above a diverse choice of walking trails. Its showstopper though is its serpentine lake, which has a striking balustraded bridge and a Doric temple on its bank. Complete with several other amazing attractions in between, memories in Nottinghamshire are sure to be made even better with an unforgettable breakfast, lunch or dinner at The Dukes Beefeater.
