The Plough Beefeater
Come and enjoy a meal out in the Kentish countryside with us at the Plough Beefeater in Dover. We serve top quality steaks grilled to perfection, plus pub classics and a brilliant range of drinks. We’re just a 15-minute drive from the White Cliffs of Dover, Dover Castle and Folkestone Beach – we’re the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner before exploring the iconic Dover coast.

Our team
We couldn’t ask for a better team. Our team are all friendly locals, with a real mixture of ages and backgrounds to give the perfect blend of experience and energy. Most of our team have been with us for years, they know Dover and Folkestone like the back of their hands – make sure to ask them for their suggestions on places to visit nearby.

We do our best to support the community. We do a lot of charity fundraising for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, and we’re always happy to lend our upstairs area to any charity group or community events.

Our location
There’s a lot of history to our humble restaurant. Back in 1848, the Plough was a coach house and served as a major meeting point for the community. Times may have changed, but we’re proud to carry on that tradition as a favourite for locals and tourists alike to relax and unwind.

Our restaurant has gorgeous countryside views from our pub garden, and an upstairs seating area with atmospheric exposed eve wood rafters for that classic old-timey pub feel. Our upstairs area is also perfect for events or meetings, just let us know in advance and we can reserve a space for you.

We have a bar area with games machines and BT Sports on the TV, free Wi-Fi, and a quiet area against the windows if guests book advance. Again, just let us know and we’ll do our best to help!

We have 200 parking spaces, with disabled parking available and full access to our restaurant.

Make sure to take a look at our offers page for all our latest deals and promotions.

Why we love Dover
Dover is probably most famous for those gorgeous white cliffs, and at the Plough we’re only a 15-minute drive away. But there’s a lot more to Dover than just the cliffs – after you’ve enjoyed a delicious meal with us, make sure to check out nearby Dover Castle, take a trip down Dover Docks, visit the Painted Roman House or take a trip to Samphire Hoe Nature Reserve for a relaxing stroll after lunch.

We’re also close to Folkestone and its amazing beaches, so after a warm day out in our pub garden enjoying the countryside, why not enjoy a fun family day out to the beach?

And of course, remember to fuel up and relax with us before a trip down the Euro Tunnel or on the ferry. Dover is one of the most exciting, busiest places in Kent and we like to think of the Plough as a warm, comfy rest stop before you plough on through to all of the excitement around us.

Frequently asked questions

We’re a Beefeater restaurant, which means we do the best steaks in town! Our 10oz fillet steak is always in demand – it’s one of our juiciest cuts, aged for a minimum of 30 days, packed with flavour and served with chunky triple cooked chips, crispy flat mushroom, juicy grilled tomatoes and peppercorn sauce. Our kitchen manager recommends going for medium rare to get the best mix of flavour and tenderness.

We are, and at the Plough we do one of the best in town. With our Sunday roasts you can choose from our specialty roast sirloin of beef, rump of lamb, half-roast chicken or butternut squash & ale pie, served with all the trimmings and our signature red wine gravy. You also get unlimited roast potatoes and other delicious extras.

It’s got to be the Premier Inn Breakfast, which we serve at the Plough. An unlimited selection of the best of an English breakfast. That’s bacon, eggs cooked just how you like them, hash browns, black pudding, toast and plenty more with free tea and coffee.

At the Plough we make family meals out fun. Enjoy hassle-free dining, a tasty kids’ menu with all the classics and a team that’s just great with kids. Our outdoor area is perfect for letting the kids run around and burn off some energy before dinner too!

From mid-week meals to special occasions, we welcome all kinds of group bookings at the Plough Beefeater. You can book tables for up to 12 people online through our website, or call us on 01304 213 339 to find out more about Beefeater group bookings in Dover.

We have a huge pub garden with scenic countryside views. If you’re looking for a drink in the sunshine or a steak with some fresh air, you couldn’t pick a better spot.
